Funding support for InRAs to attend ESGI195
The UK’s annual European Study Group with Industry is one of the UK’s flagship activities for early-stage engagement between university-based mathematical scientists and business, industry, and government.
The format of this week-long event is that business, industry, and government organisations present challenges where the mathematical sciences might help, and the attendees self-form into teams to attack those challenges. It is a smelting pot for innovative ideas and collaborative working, which can lead to follow-on projects.
MInDS has agreed to support up to 10 InRAs each year to attend the UK ESGI (this helps embed InRAs into the ESGI and also helps support ESGI financially). The support will cover local registration and accommodation costs (which will be paid directly to the University organising the UK ESGI), and travel and subsistence claims up to £250 which can be claimed back from the University of Warwick.
InRAs will be encouraged to take leadership roles in the challenge teams, to help drive report writing and, where appropriate, further engagement with companies after the meeting has finished. There is a light-touch application for the funding which is administered by the KE Hub.
